Western Union now Offers Online Transactional Capabilities in 29
Countries Worldwide
ENGLEWOOD, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
The Western Union Company (NYSE:WU), a leader in global payment
services, announced the launch of new transactional web sites in the
Czech Republic, Hungary, Lithuania, Malta, and Slovakia. With these new
introductions, Western Union now has online
transactional services in 29 countries, enabling consumers to send
money to over 200 countries and territories worldwide.
“Leveraging a strong omni-channel strategy, Western Union continues to
grow its online transactional network worldwide,” said Khalid Fellahi,
senior vice president and general manager, Western Union. “We have an
extensive funds-in and funds-out network that connects over half a
million diverse retail agent locations, ATMs and kiosks, our own and
third party digital sites, and mobile wallets. Our cross-border platform
provides the technology, foreign exchange conversion and settlement,
regulatory and compliance infrastructure, and data management that
brings this network together, allowing for efficient and timely money
movement for multiple use cases almost anywhere in the world.”
Consumers across these countries can now send fast, convenient and
reliable Western Union Money Transfer® transactions simply by
visiting the Web site or the country’s agent locations:
These new transactional sites follow recent announcements by the company
such as the ability to have Western Union Money Transfer® transactions
originating from nearly anywhere in the world paid out at more than
3,000 ATMs of PKO Bank Polski in Poland or credited directly to
customers’ bank accounts. Western Union also formalized a deal
with MasterCard and Banca Transilvania (BT) to enable remittances
originated from nearly anywhere in the globe to be received on Maestro
and MasterCard consumer cards using 900 BT automated teller machines
(ATMs) across Romania.
Today, when speed, convenience and trust mean everything, Western
Union’s innovation over time has built a powerful cross-border
capability for moving money nearly anywhere in the world in minutes*.
It’s the rare combination of a physical and fast-growing digital network
across 200 countries and territories, the ability to exchange money in
120 currencies, the global compliance knowledge, and the technology
backbone behind it all that enables the company to move money with great
speed and scale.
Consumers can send money to Western Union’s network of more than 500,000
Agent locations, and receivers can opt to direct the funds into a bank
account at select Western Union® account-based money
transfer (ABMT) relationships or into a mobile wallet with select
Western Union mobile money providers. In addition, customers can
continue to use the extensive Western Union retail Agent network to send
and receive money. Through these channels, Western Union addresses the
needs of its customers by giving them easy ways, via digital and retail
channels, to send funds whenever, and to nearly wherever they desire.
