Western Union Survey Says Consumers Dread Shopping for the Perfect Gift for Mom

52% of Consumers Reported That Their Top Dilemma When Shopping for Their Mother is Not Knowing What She Wants

ENGLEWOOD, Colo., Apr 07, 2011 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- The Western Union Company(NYSE: WU), a leader in global payments, found in a recent survey, conducted by Wakefield Research, that 52 percent of consumers reported that their top dilemma for shopping for their mother is that they don't know what she wants.1 In fact, 79 percent of consumers dread shopping for Mother's Day for one reason or another.

In celebration of mothers and all loved ones this Mother's Day season, Western Union and Latin Grammy Award-winning recording artist Daddy Yankee recently launched the "Love in Any Language" campaign. This campaign encourages consumers to create and upload their own original music video to express love to mothers, families, friends or loved ones. Once entrants have uploaded their entry, they are encouraged to tell their friends and family to go online to view their work and to vote. Public voting of the uploaded entries will determine 10 finalists, and the grand prize winner of the contest is set to receive $10,000 and a trip for two to the 2011 Billboard Latin Music Conference in Miami on April 27. No purchase is necessary to enter or win, and entry into the contest is subject to the Official Rules available at loveinanylanguage.com.

Casting calls for the video contest component of Love in Any Language took place earlier this month in Houston and Los Angeles with over 70 consumers coming out to create their own videos and share their love for one another. The final casting calls are taking place this Saturday, April 9 in New York City, Chicago, Miami and Washington, D.C.
