Assists Disaster Relief Efforts in Haiti

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti, Sep 12, 2008 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- The Western Union Foundation announced today a donation of US$25,000 to CARE to assist disaster relief efforts here in the aftermath of several storms that have recently affected the country.

CARE's priority is to provide safe water to residents in Haiti and take emergency food supplies to affected communities. "Our priority is always to reach the most vulnerable people, including women, children, and people living with HIV and AIDS," said CARE Haiti Country Director Sophie Perez.

"We are saddened by the current difficult conditions people are experiencing in the Caribbean as a result of these devastating storms," said Luella Chavez D'Angelo, president of the Western Union Foundation. "Our Foundation is committed to continue helping the Caribbean recover from these natural disasters."
